Server update

Postby Karride » Fri Apr 28, 2017 8:25 am

After the rather troubled update we had last time, I delayed updating the server for a few days this time. But things seem to be stable in this release, so I'm updating now. Should be available in about 30 minutes.

Outages

Postby Karride » Wed Feb 08, 2017 11:23 pm

I sincerely apologize for the last couple of long term outages we've had lately. Real life is pretty hectic, and the server seems to pick the times when I'm too busy to really pay attention to crash. I've added some new checks that I'm hoping will catch when the server doesn't restart after its backup, and start it.

On a good note, I took the opportunity provided by the latest crash to upgrade our hardware. we are now on an SSD and have 8GB of RAM. This seems to have made the server a lot smoother.

apologies again for the downtime. I'm going to try to keep better tabs on the server, even if I'm not able to be an active player right now.

Hello Update

Postby Karride » Mon Dec 19, 2016 5:01 pm

It's here! The update all of StarMade has been waiting for! NPC Factions.

And the good news is a reset is not required to get the update. There seems to be a bug with getting them to spawn in-game though in Linux. I've been working on it and I think I've got it sorted out, I'll know for sure tonight when I get home from work and get logged in.

I may still do an update, just to clean up the universe. As usual though, there will be lots of warning before that happens.

A word aboutthe upcoming update

Postby Karride » Fri Nov 25, 2016 9:06 pm

I've gotten quite a few questions about the upcoming update, and a possible server reset, so I thought I would address the questions here.

Word is we should see the new NPC update drop sometime next week. I will be updating the server as soon as the new update is available.

Note I said updating. This does not mean I will be performing a server reset at the same time. A server reset is required to fully take advantage of the update, but I will wait about 2-3 weeks before performing the server reset, so that people can tell me what sector they want exported.

Back!

Postby Karride » Wed Oct 05, 2016 10:22 am

Apologies for the downtime. Seems AT&T's automated systems decided I would be better off on a different wire pair...A wire pair the was broken 900Ft away, and had worse signal characteristics than the line I was on, but hey, the computer thought it was better than the line I've been on for 5+ years

Anyway, My IP changed as part of the switch so I had to update DNS. So if things still seem down, give it an hour and try again to give DNS time to propagate.
